We talked about the year coming to an end and starting a new year. The children enjoyed making their own calendars and looking at the year ahead. We also had a book advent where the children received a book and we looked at how many days were left until christmas!
During our Christmas topic we enjoyed lots of different festive activities and learnt about how/why people celebrate. The children were really excited to decorate the tree and loved playing with our nativity characters!
We love learning about Christmas! We enjoyed learning about the Nativity story and performed our very own Nativity to our parents. Well done EYFS!
We enjoy learning about lots of different celebrations and why they are celebrated. Here we learnt about Bonfire Night and talked about why we have fireworks. We also learnt about the importance of staying safe around fireworks and some tips to keep safe.
In EYFS we enjoy using our floor book to look back at previous learning. This helps the children to develop their chronological awareness whilst ensuring knowledge remains sticky!
We love to learn about the past! We enjoy learning about Diwali and talk about the Diwali story. We learn about how people celebrate Diwali and enjoy watching the story using shadow puppets. Some children were able to retell the story independently using the puppets. We do lots of things including making sweets, and compare how Hindu's celebrate Diwali with how we celebrate other celebrations like Eid and Christmas!
As part of our chronological understanding, we update our learning journey board over the half term with pictures and work that we have done. At the end of each half term we then talk about what we have done and also what we have done throughout our time in Reception!
